INTRODUCING VOYAGE TO THE WALL, a historical novel based on true events in immediate post-war WWII in Germany and the birth of Israel. It is based on many experiences of the author, Manning Rubin.
This is not simply another action historical novel. It is also the moving story of a naïve young American soldier’s experience of the horrors of WWII. And it reveals the effect on the world of the millions of murders by the Nazis including 6 million Jews. And on the fight between the Israeli Palestinians and the Arabs for the birth of Israel. It exposes many lesser-known facts about that time.
“In the name of the Jewish people, I sentence you to death.”
Top Nazi SS and Gestapo officers were secretly assassinated after WWII by members of the Underground Jewish Brigade from Palestine. These underground operations are only part of the gripping story of how the Holocaust forced a naïve, young Jewish U.S. Army soldier from the South to a new understanding of his place in the world and the Jewish community.
Stationed in Germany after the victory in Europe, Sergeant Joey Goldman visits Dachau and attends the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials. It shocks him to his core, changing him from a nonobservant Jew to an ardent but secular Zionist willing to risk his military career assisting the Underground Jewish Brigade in sending weapons and refugees to Palestine, and he risks his life by assisting them in capturing and killing top Nazis in hiding.
Joey experiences a relationship with two Dachau survivors he helps to safety. He also finds love with Leah, a young Polish survivor, who Joey follows to Palestine where he fights in all the wars there. This important and inspiring story is based on true events including some of the actual experiences of the author who at the young age of 17 was in the U.S. 3rd Army stationed in Germany.

Name it.
What is stressing you most? The Pandemic? Politics? Poverty? Climate Change? Healthcare? Sick Child? Elections? Lead filled water? School and church shootings? The Stock Market? Hurricanes? The Opioid Epidemic? Sexual assaults? Voting Rights? Your Job or lack of one? Threats of a nuclear war?
No wonder the country is wired up and anxious.
60 Ways to Relieve Stress in 60 Seconds is a method of stopping stress in its tracks by consciously distracting yourself when you’re feeling its effects. It is scientifically and soundly based on behavioral and cognitive therapy. Self-distraction is a proven way to protect yourself from self-destruction as spelled out in the study “Distraction And Humor in Stress Reduction” by PhDs Harry Mills, Natalie Ross, and Mark Dombeck which is included in this new version of the book.
Here’s an important paragraph from this study:
“One of the simplest psychological techniques for rapid stress relief involves finding ways to distract yourself from whatever it is that is bothering you. From our previous discussion, you’ll recall that as we become more stressed out, our attention tends to narrow and focus on what we perceive as threatening. Distraction techniques work by interrupting this process of attentional narrowing so that we stop thinking about what is bothering us for a while and instead think about something else. As the saying goes, “Out of sight, Out of mind.”
How does it work? By literally forcing yourself to take your mind off the thoughts or problems that are creating what psychologists call a “downward spiral, you learn to recognize the symptoms of stress and stop them. Then with practice it can become your mental calisthenics to help control stress.
